Jeff Trains at the Olympic Park in Beijing

Where's Jin Sun? - Beijing Edition

Installment #3. Find JSP in the crowd. This is the last easy one-

Has the Westernization of China Gone Too Far?

Hooters, TGIF, and Sizzler (branded as Californian cuisine). We also saw a Kenny Roger's Roasters, but didn't get the picture in time. We later found out that KRR, though officially shut down in the US, is owned and operated by a 'rogue' Chinese capitalizing on the brand name. Who knows where he sources and what he serves these days...

Shirtless at The Great Wall

Of all the photos we have of ourselves at one of the 7 Wonders of the Medieval World, we chose to post this one. You can't tell by these but it was quite chilly on the wall.

Bizarre Foods with Jeff and Jin Sun

We know you've been waiting for this-

Intestine Alley in Seoul- mmm....very popular

Jin Sun gambles with her life by eating blowfish skin.

Check out the videos of Jeff eating live sushi and JSP's live octopus legs. Tip for novices- chew furiously on the tentacles or else you'll feel the suckers on the insides of your cheeks!

Flogging and Jail for Poor Grades

We visited Misook, an old time Korean village about an hour outside of Seoul- reconstructed for the hordes of students on field trips and tourists. These kids in their knockoff Burberry sweatsuits are being flogged by their teacher.

Later that day, Jeff found himself in 'jail'- he looks like he's having fun, doesn't he?

More Funny Signs in S. Korea

We studied this sign for a few minutes and still couldn't figure out what it was for but couldn't help ourselves.

Peanut buttered roasted squid was more obvious. We think the baby squids are eating the adult squid's head. It was quite the popular snack- our (read JSP's) curious taste buds couldn't endure the line...

And finally, this 'Classic & Bar' advertised that they had only women bartenders. Jeff went in to confirm...

Where's Jin Sun? - Seoul Edition

The second in our interactive series- shout out to Curtis for winning the last one!

Find Jin Sun among the tourists.

Jeff Reaches Celebrity Status in Seoul and Beyond

Everywhere we went, Jeff was swarmed by young fans who all wanted to take a photo with him.

Just a few highlights:
Jeff shows the kids in Misook Village the 'fist bump'

Young teenage girls gasping for air upon the site of the American Heartthrob.

DMZ and the Axis of Evil

We visited the DMZ with Jin Sun's aunt. Jeff shot some hoops and we checked out the tunnel that NK denies digging.

There were no photos allowed but we risked detainment to bring you this exclusive.

Wanted: English Sign Translator

No experience necessary. Just a good handle on elementary school grammar.

So far in Japan and Korea, we noticed that companies forgot to edit their English translations. Check it out.

Seoul- The Homeland

We were met in Seoul by Jin Sun's Aunt Mun Ku. She showed us around our neighborhood and took us sightseeing to various areas of Seoul.

That evening, we reunited with our cousins (Cliff and Jennifer) over a delicious meal of Korean BBQ Beef at Hanok- both marinated and not.

The Beef Tower

Our last night in Tokyo, we splurged on a Wagyu beef dinner in the famed Man Se Tower of Beef near the Akihabara electronics district. The whole building (10 floors!) is dedicated to serving beef in all styles from hamburger to shabu shabu, to hibachi, even Kalbi! Yes, that's a neon cow on the roof of the building.

Strike Anywhere

Jeff and arch nemesis Ken Yamazaki (of IODA fame) prepare to be thrashed by Japanese 20 year olds.

Ken's band that he manages (US band Strike Anywhere http://www.strikeanywhere.org/) was playing at the O-Nest in Tokyo and we were able to hook-up.

Shows start (9 pm) and end (10:30 pm) early as the subways close at 12. The floors in the club were nicer than those in our last apartment.

Room Service- Kyoto Ryokan Style

We took the bullet train to Kyoto and stayed in a traditional Japanese style ryokan. We dropped off our luggage in the AM and by checkin, they had hot tea and cookies waiting for us. We even took the traditional hot springs bath and when we returned to our rooms, we saw that our sneakers were 'polished' for us. THEN, we had our host serve us a tremendous autumn themed meal complete with boiling hotpot, sushi, tempura and hand carved fish cakes. Now that's what I call room service...

Kyoto - The Home of Ancient Japanese Traditions

Jin Sun's take on the traditional lifestyle. Mr. Miyagi would be proud.

No doubt our best video yet. Even better with audio!

Tokyo Giants at the Tokyo Dome

We got tickets to see the Tokyo Yomiuri Giants.

There were nonstop choreographed cheers from both sides, drinks served by our cute, young, incredibly energetic beer girls (they literally sprinted around), and bento boxes for dinner.

Alex Ramirez hit a home run for the Giants.

Tokyo Fish Market: Sushi at 9am

Just caught, just bought and out of this world! From the sea to our tummies... mmm
We waited in line with countless others- many of whom were up all night and needed their morning sushi fix to start their day.

Where's Jin Sun?

The first of, hopefully, a continuing segment in which we ask our readers to take part in the "Where is Jin Sun?" interactive portion of our blog. The first one is easy- pick her out from the diverse crowd.

Depato Store Food

People waited in long lines for these sponge cake things below. People seem to love wait in line for things here. The line for the H&M store was literally 3 blocks long - while the store was open!
