jsjb., when mail call takes you back to rapid city get north enough to hit spearfish and have a beer at the backporch bar. check to see if the band johnny lunchmeat http://backporchbar.com/ is playing and if so stay to see the show. then go west to devils tower WY., channel richard dreyfuss while in your car then climb the west rim trail to navajo bowl. play as much of the theme song from Close Encounters on your cell phone as you are able to master.
make, and eat, mashed potatoes.

So sure enough Lester remembered the name of the bar...he didn't even hesitate...The Gem...oh yeah I fond memories of The Gem especially Al's buddy...the head in the box.
